This bulb/housing was purchase to replace one on a 5 year old 50" Sony Grand Wega. Amazing the bulb lasted so long but recently the picture was looking darker and muddy. We weren't sure because the change was so gradual and who remembers what the picture was like 5 years ago.

I was a little nervous, because I didn't know how hard it would be to change the bulb and I had read a lot of negative review about generic bulbs on the market. But Phillips makes a great product, so I am glad we sprang for the additional cost, for peace of mind. Beside the generic only saves $15-20. Just not worth it.

The good news is the bulb arrived very fast (ahead of the estimated delivery) and replacing the bulb (that comes in the housing) took all of 2 minutes, no tools required. Anyone can do it.

The great news is the picture is now so bright we need sunglasses - okay, kidding, but the difference was amazing and we did turn down the tv's brightness. I forgot how bright these tvs are. Great when using it in a well lit room.

I was told it needed replacing occasionally when I purchased the TV from Best Buy, and that was 6 1/2 years ago, and I had never replaced the bulb. So, I decided to buy a bulb. The Sony website sells this for about $200, and there are off-brands for about $80, so I wanted to save money, but not buy a generic bulb. So, I went with this Philips bulb, for between the two extremes. The third-party reseller was Dynamic Lighting - I ordered on a Saturday, paid a few extra dollars for priority shipping, and they shipped on Tuesday and it arrived on Thursday (cross country, they're in CA and I'm in FL). The box and item appears to be genuine Philips. I followed the instructions in the bulb box (slightly different, and more accurate, than what is in the TV owner's manual), and a small hex wrench was in the bulb box as well. Replacement was straight-forward. I'm a techie kind of person, so I would not say it was "easy," but it was do-able. The wrench wasn't long enough to reach into the screw and turn it completely - there was a casing wall to one side, so I had to do numerous half-turns to unscrew the old bulb and screw in the new one. But, it's done - probably 15 minutes total. And the TV works again. Colors are brighter, and I'm pleased. I can't say the off-brand ones are worse - as noted, I've owned this TV for years, and this is my first bulb replacement

Picked up a pair of these for myself for just $15 (thanks TJ Maxx) on a whim since I needed to replace an older cheap pair that broke. I never imagined how good $15 could sound or feel! I've been wearing these for a few hours now listening to a variety of music (Civil Wars, Tesseract, Sigur Ros, Jason Aldean) and testing them compared to some other pairs of over-the-ears that I own. These are by far my favorite...now my disclaimer: I consider myself an audiophile in the sense that I record/mix/produce music in a REAL studio. I have learned what good sound is through $10,000 speakers. Don't expect that from headphones. That's just silly.

The bottom line is that the sound is GOOD. Good (in the case of these) does mean a bit colored. They have a punchy, articulated bass that is exaggerated yet tight - but not too exaggerated. Midrange is slightly (very slightly) scooped. Treble is well-pronounced, crisp, and clean, without being tinny or harsh. The 40mm drivers deliver well, giving a wide stereo image, but I can notice a lack of depth at times. Sound Isolation is good. No clear data that I could see but I'd guess -20 to -25dB.

The cord is long enough to allow me to stick my iPod in my pocket, and the braid keeps it from getting pinched in places. I like that it is replaceable ('cause we all know it's eventually going to go...) and Philips will send you one for free.

Comfort-wise is my one complaint...I might scratch off 1/2 a star for that. The leather ear cups are quite comfortable for lengths of time, but I found the strap that goes over the had was a bit too short for my large noggin (I wear a size 8 hat). I don't typically consider my head to be large...I might need to reconsider. Nothing that a few frequent adjustments didn't fix.Read more

KDF55WF655 (55" Sony WEGA, purchased March 2005), and several months ago the TV would shut off for about 30 seconds, then would come back on, with the green power light flashing as it was "off." Great screen clarity. Connecting to the internet was very simple and is connecting PC/HDMI devices. My only complaint are the web apps. No Hulu? Oh well.

PRO. The heading is wrong on this TV, it is a 240Hz. It has a PMR 240hz type screen this screen has 8ms reaction time. If you get the 55" or the 46" the screen has a 5 ms reaction time which is even faster, this is important for sports and Video games. That speed make a top notch computer monitor on its own. The TV has a great 1080p Picture and sports are no problem on this TV and LED keeps it well lighted in our bright room. Sound is nice and basic if you want to listen to the best you have to buy a sound system though. My wife like it because it simple to use and it doesn't make her dizzy, because she hates 3D movies anywhere. This TV has most smart options except for, 3D and a keyboard input which will cost at least $500 plus with any other TV. I use the Wi-Fi more than I thought. Next TV I will have a keyboard input. CON: The TV came with out it's four screws for mounting to the stand, but customer service was quick to answer and sent out the screws and told me, what size they are so i could buy them at the store if I was in a hurry, but the TV sit on the stand with out the screws any ways and I will wait..
